Handmade Paper Bookmarks

Long back....probably when I was in 4th or 5th standard......those were the golden days of only DD days....I was a good time pass to watch the afternoon summer special programs.... n literally we used to wait for the clock to struck 1:30pm.... n my most favorite was the handicraft session...My Origami.. didn't even spare the fresh newspaper....making doormats from old sarees.... I remember not talking to mother for three days for not giving me her brand new sarees... makingof masks... and every corner of the home had the paper leftovers of the work.... n then it was the time to make bookmarks.... white cardsheet..... n then so many snow-mans in different colors... lolz..... probably it was the only drawing I could draw...last year Ankita started making greetings...... Her drawing and ideas were awesome.... n that reminded me of my forgotten bookmarks.... and all ideas started flashing....I started with fine liners and white drawing sheets.... with some Mehendi kind of design on it...

then tried some hands on colors too...

but the drawing paper was too thin.. n it wasnt so appealing....

and some how got the idea of using the handmade papers and fabric colors for this...

and  it was just awsome... n appreciated by everybody...

  

This is how I did it:

I decided on a good size, and traced it onto the handmade paper, then I cut out same size of white drawing sheet and pasted it on the back side with glue to give it more strength... Cut out pieces of handmade paper... made some deisgns  with fabric fine liners on them.. and allowed them to dry..... Then I threaded the tiny tassels through the holes punched at the top.

Now I have a biiiiiiig collections of bookmarks made..and gives a very personal touch when gifted... so.... I have a very few of them left with me....  

I was happy with how they turned out....but the only thing is that they are missing thier place in a book somewhere...... :)
